OPRF Basketball and Iman Shumpert on TV tonight (in the Chicagoland area)

Tonight at 7:00 central time Oak Park River Forest will take on Glenbard West. OPRF features the Illinois’ top-ranked player and future Georgia TechYellow Jacket, Iman Shumpert.

If you live in the metro Chicago area you can see the game on Comcast SportsNet at 7:00 pm tonight. Iman is a lot of fun to watch live and it will be exciting to see him on TV. High school games are short compared to pro games so watching isn’t too much of a commitment. I highly recommend checking it out.

UPDATE:  Huskies won a close one, 55-49.  It was a really good game.  Ultimately Oak Park’s athleticism and full-court pressure defense did in Glenbard.  Both Iman and Northwestern-bound Glenbard star John  Shurna played extremely well.  The lanky Shurna was close to unstoppable on offense with 24 pts and 10 boards.  Shumpert came up big on both ends of the court and buried consecutive 3-pointers on three straight possessions at one point.  He had 20 pts, 5 boards and 3 steals and hit some clutch free throws at the end of the 4th with the game still very close.  Assists apparently weren’t recorded but he had a good number of those as well.  OPRF’s Daniel Barnes also had a strong second half and an incredibly athletic up and under play to keep the Huskies ahead late in the 4th.

The one other thing I noticed watching the game was that Glenbard’s team needs to find a weight room.  I know these are high school kids and all but damn they were skinny.
